Data Utilization

We use the Data Structuring System (RDE is the application name for Data Structuring System) to collect, accumulate, and share material data generated through equipment sharing in a structured format that is easy for third parties to utilize.

Regarding Data Utilization:

  • The full-scale launch of the data-sharing service is scheduled to begin on September 30, 2025.
(With the beginning of the full-scale service, the trial operation will be terminated.)
  • The overview of the datasets can be searched and viewed by anyone on the "ARIM Data Portal Site (Japanese site)".
  • After applying and registering through the “ARIM Data Portal Site (Japanese site)”, you can search for, download, and use the desired datasets.
  • The usage fee is based on an annual flat-rate subscription under either a single-user license or a group license.
For public institutions and academia, the fee starts from 12,000 JPY per year, while for general users (e.g., companies), it starts from 24,000 JPY per year.
  • Eligibility Requirements for Users:
Individuals who meet the requirements of the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act and other relevant laws
(e.g., Japanese nationals residing in Japan, or foreign nationals who have resided in Japan for six months or longer, i.e., residents under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act)
Individuals affiliated with corporations established in Japan who have applied for usage and have been granted approval

Number and Features of the Provided Data

  • You can download and utilize structured data related to rich material datasets (including various measurement values, graphs, images, and more) generated from research conducted using approximately 1,200 shared instrumentsavailable under ARIM.
(This includes metadata such as experimental conditions and sample information.)
  • Number of available structured data entries: Approximately 110,000 (as of July 2025)
*New structured data will be added continuously, with an expected annual increase of several hundred thousand entries.
  • Data formats that differ by instrument have been standardized, enabling effective utilization of the data for AI, machine learning, and other applications.
(The database also stores various experimental data, including unsuccessful results. For each type of material, physical property values, measurement and analysis data are linked with additional information such as experimental conditions, process data, and parameters related to material synthesis, as well as temperature, pressure, and other factors in semiconductor and device fabrication.)
