概要(目的・用途・実施内容)/ Abstract (Aim, Use Applications and Contents)

We have succeeded in synthesizing a new quinary compound that is composed of alternate stacks of Fe-S containing layers and Ag-Te containing layers. To elucidate the electric state of Fe in this compound, which is not clear at the present stage, 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopic measurement was performed at room temperature.

実験 / Experimental

The powder sample was mixed with silicone grease and laminated on pure Al foil of 15 x 15 mm2 to guarantee the randomness of crystal orientations. The 57Fe Mössbauer spectrum was measured at room temperature by a conventional absorption method with the constant acceleration mode using a gamma-ray source of 57Co in Rh matrix. The velocity of the source was calibrated using a standard spectrum of alpha-Fe foil, and the center of the spectrum was set to 0 mm/s.

結果と考察 / Results and Discussion

Since the amount of Fe in this compound is relatively small, it took about two weeks to obtain data with sufficient S/N ratio capable of fitting. From minute fitting of the obtained spectrum, it turned out that Fe in the measured sample is at 3 or 4 sites with different local environments. Identification of these sites and corresponding electronic states is now in progress.
